One cup of flour is 3 pounds per pound. A pound of flour is 5 pounds per pound. That’s an 8 1/2 pound bag. A 1 pound bag of flour is 3 pounds per pound.
If you want a simple way to make your own flour, you could make a 2/8 cup. For the sake of argument, I’ll use the standard one cup flour, with a bit of extra for added sugar. I prefer 1 cup per pound.
That’s a very good point. At a quick glance, some flour bags may look like they are all the same, but when you look closer you will realize that you have a different bag at each end of the cup. The top bag has a different volume, so it is going to have different flour in it. Same with the bottom bag, same with the bottom bag but different flour.
If you go by volume, you would think that all the bags would have the same flour in them, but they don’t. Each bag is different, even though they are all the same size.

You can put your bags on a shelf and take them with you. This will only work if you have a good memory of the flour you actually use. If you don’t, you will end up with a bag of flour on your person and you will never be able to use it.
