Old fashioned icing has been around for a while. This past weekend I had my old fashioned icing for about a week. The first week I used it and it really did look like a really cute icing. I used it for a couple of reasons: first I wanted to make it a little tighter, secondly I wasn’t afraid of getting stuck with it, and third it was not much fun to make.

I made a similar mistake a few months ago. I made icing out of a mix of sugar and butter. The consistency of the icing was perfect. It did everything I wanted it to do. It hardened when I was done and it was easy to remove so I could clean it. However, I had not thought about the fact that the icing was actually a bit hard and brittle.

If you make icing out of butter and sugar, it will be a bit stronger than it looks. This is because sugar has a lot of water in it, so it actually tends to melt and soften. This is not a problem for icing, though. You can use this melt-in-your-mouth quality of icing to make something really impressive.

Icing is a bit like icing on the cake as it sets up quickly. You’ll want to do this with butter because it’s lighter and easier to handle.
