Ingredients
  

Crust Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Cold Unsalted Butter Cut into cubes
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Caramel Filling

  • 1 cup Caramels Unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy Cream

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, combine gluten-free flour, sugar, salt and cold butter. Cut the butter into the flour using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • While the crust is baking, melt the caramels and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  • Pour the melted caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the caramel.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use salted caramel candies. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
