These gluten-free caramel crumb bars are a delightful treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. The perfect balance of sweet and salty, they are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, combine gluten-free flour, sugar, salt and cold butter. Cut the butter into the flour using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
While the crust is baking, melt the caramels and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Pour the melted caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the caramel.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
