Main Ingredients
- 2 lbs Beef Chuck Roast cut into 1-inch cubes
- 3 large Yellow Onions thinly sliced
- 4 cloves Garlic minced
- 4 cups Beef Broth
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Dried Thyme
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 cup Shredded Gruyere Cheese
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches, then remove and set aside.
Add the sliced onions to the pot and cook until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Return the beef to the pot, add beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then cover and transfer to the preheated oven.
Bake for 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender. Remove from the oven and stir in half of the Gruyere and mozzarella cheese.
Top with the remaining cheese and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
