Amish hamburger steak

A hearty and comforting Amish hamburger steak recipe, baked to perfection in a rich gravy.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lb Ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Plain
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Pepper

Gravy

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 0.25 cup Flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion soup mix, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Shape the mixture into oval patties.
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Place the hamburger steaks in a baking dish and pour the gravy over them.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until the steaks are cooked through and the gravy is bubbly.

Notes

Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
