avocado cilantro dip

This creamy and zesty avocado cilantro dip is made with fresh, healthy ingredients like ripe avocado, buttermilk, cilantro, lime, and a touch of jalapeño for a flavorful kick. Serve it as a dressing, dip, or sauce - perfect for salads, tacos, chips, and more.

  • 0.75 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 1 small jalapeño seeds removed (leave in for extra heat)
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 medium Haas avocado peeled, pitted
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp chopped scallion
  • 1 lime juice juice of 1 lime
  • 0.125 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.25 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt

Preparation Steps

  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • For a thinner consistency, add more buttermilk. For a thicker dip, use less buttermilk or serve as-is.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir well before using. If the dip thickens too much, mix in a tablespoon or two of buttermilk to reach desired consistency. This dip also works great as a sandwich spread, taco sauce, or salad dressing!
