Beef Stir Fry

A quick and flavorful beef stir fry with tender beef and crisp vegetables in a savory sauce.

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil divided
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper any color, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger grated

Sauce Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Preparation Steps

  • In a bowl, toss the beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from the wok and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the wok. Add the onion and bell pepper and stir-fry until tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the wok and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Return the beef to the wok. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve immediately, optionally over rice.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger.
