  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup strawberry puree

Frosting

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cup strawberry puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Cake Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat until just combined.
  • Stir in strawberry puree.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
  • Stir in strawberry puree and vanilla extract.
  • Frost cooled cake.

Notes

For a more intense strawberry flavor, add freeze-dried strawberries to the batter.
