Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat until just combined.
Stir in strawberry puree.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Instructions
In a large bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy.
Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
Stir in strawberry puree and vanilla extract.
Frost cooled cake.
Notes
For a more intense strawberry flavor, add freeze-dried strawberries to the batter.
