Bourbon Orange Cranberry Sauce

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon optional

  • Rinse the fresh cranberries and pick out any stems or soft berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, granulated sugar, and water.

  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the cranberries begin to pop, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Stir in the orange zest and bourbon (if using).

  • Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Remove from heat and let cool completely. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and chill before serving.

Notes

This cranberry sauce can be made a day or two in advance and stored in the refrigerator. It's a wonderful accompaniment to roasted meats like turkey or pork.
