In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mashed avocado, mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
Spread the chicken and avocado mixture evenly onto one slice of bread.
Top with the cheese slices and then the other slice of bread.
Heat a lightly oiled skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
