Preparation Steps

  • Combine cream, milk, cocoa powder, and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is hot and sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Allow mixture to cool completely in the refrigerator.
  • Once chilled, pour mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • In the last 5 minutes of churning, add chopped chocolate and cherries.
  • Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
