Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the vanilla extract and then the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them. For crispier cookies, bake for a few minutes longer. You can also add nuts or other mix-ins.
