  • 2 cup white rice cooked
  • 0.5 cup onion finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup celery stalk finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt or to taste

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper (if using), black pepper, and salt.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Add the cooked white rice to the skillet and stir to combine with the vegetable and seasoning mixture.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed most of the liquid and is tender. Stir occasionally.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
