Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Add warm milk and eggs, mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead in softened butter until smooth and elastic.
Gently fold in chocolate chips. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough, divide into three equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope. Braid the ropes together, tucking the ends underneath.
Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the loaf with egg wash.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips. Store leftover brioche in an airtight container at room temperature.
