  • 1 head Green Cabbage, shredded
  • 6 slices Bacon, diced
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, reserving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  • Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  • Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. If the cabbage starts to stick, add a splash of chicken broth.
  • Stir in the cooked bacon, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute to heat through.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

This fried cabbage is a great side dish to serve with pork chops, sausages, or any other meal. Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers.
