Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Cover the dough and chill for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in granulated sugar.
Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are cracked.
Let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
