Greek Chicken Souvlaki

Juicy and tender grilled chicken skewers marinated in olive oil, lemon, garlic, and oregano. Perfect for a healthy and delicious dinner.

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 0.25 cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the cubed chicken to the bowl and toss to coat evenly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
  • Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Grill the chicken skewers for 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F).
  • Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Soaking the wooden skewers in water prevents them from burning on the grill. You can also use metal skewers if preferred.
