Homemade Blueberry Sauce Recipe: 7 Reasons It’ll Be Your Go-To Topper!
This easy homemade blueberry sauce is perfect on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or cheesecake. It's made with fresh or frozen blueberries and has a delicious, vibrant flavor.
In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and water.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
If using cornstarch, whisk it with 1 tablespoon of cold water to form a slurry. Add the slurry to the saucepan.
Continue to simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the blueberries have burst and the sauce has thickened. Stir in the lemon juice.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
Serve warm or cold. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
For a smoother sauce, you can blend it after cooking. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar to your liking, depending on the sweetness of the blueberries.
