How to Make 7-Step Mandu: Korean Dumpling Recipe at Home

Learn how to make delicious Korean dumplings (Mandu) at home with this simple 7-step recipe. These savory dumplings are perfect as an appetizer or a main course.

  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Kimchi, finely chopped Squeeze out excess liquid
  • 1 cup Glass noodles (dangmyeon), cooked and chopped
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 0.25 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 30 wrappers Mandu wrappers

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, kimchi, glass noodles, onion, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  • Mix all the ingredients well until thoroughly combined.
  • Place a mandu wrapper on a flat surface. Put a spoonful of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
  • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, and pinch the edges to seal. You can create pleats along one side of the dumpling for a more decorative look.
  • Repeat the process until all the filling is used.
  • Heat a lightly oiled skillet or steamer over medium heat. Cook the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown (if frying) or steam for about 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  • Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Enjoy your homemade Korean Mandu! They can also be frozen for later use. Simply freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag.
