  • 4 cups Cooked Rice Day-old, chilled rice works best
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Diced Onion
  • 0.5 cup Diced Carrots
  • 0.5 cup Diced Celery
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Low sodium recommended
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 2 Eggs Lightly beaten

Preparation Steps

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion, carrots, and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble until cooked through. Break the eggs into small pieces.
  • Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix everything together. Stir in the soy sauce, butter, garlic powder, and sesame oil. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the rice is heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For a more authentic Benihana flavor, use Japanese short-grain rice. You can also add other vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms.
