Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet and stir to combine.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the sauce. You can also top the casserole with shredded cheese before baking.
