  • 4 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream

Preparation Steps

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, making sure to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Return the chicken breasts to the skillet. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.

Notes

Serve the smothered chicken over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
