For the Cake:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
For the Buttercream Frosting:
- 2 cups unsalted butter softened
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Green brown, and red gel food coloring
For Decoration:
- Brown fondant for dirt blocks
- Green fondant for grass blocks
- White fondant for pixelated cake topping
- Red fondant for pixel decorations
Step 1: Bake the Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a square cake pan.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, until smooth.
Pour batter into the square pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Let cake cool completely before decorating.
Step 2: Make the Buttercream Frosting
Beat butter until smooth and creamy.
Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream, beating until fluffy.
Divide frosting into three bowls and color them green, brown, and red.
Step 3: Assemble & Decorate
Frost the cake base with brown frosting (dirt layer).
Use green frosting to create a pixelated grass effect on the top.
Roll out white fondant, cut it into small squares, and place it on top to resemble the in-game cake.
Add red fondant squares as pixel decorations.
Use a piping bag with a small tip to add additional pixel details.
