Poppy Seed Rolls

Delicious poppy seed rolls, perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat. Easy to make and bursting with flavor!

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup poppy seeds

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add salt, butter, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and shape into rolls. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

These rolls are best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
