Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Arrange a layer of potato slices in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Top with a layer of Gruyere cheese.
Repeat layers until all potatoes and cheese are used, ending with a layer of cheese.
Pour heavy cream over the potatoes and cheese. Dot the top with butter.
Bake for 60 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a combination of Gruyere and Parmesan cheese.
