Salted Caramel Apple Crumble

A delightful salted caramel apple crumble with a buttery, crisp topping.

Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 6 pounds apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons salted caramel sauce

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and drizzle with salted caramel sauce.
  • In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and salt for the crumble topping. Whisk to combine.
  • Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the rolled oats until just combined.
  • Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can add chopped pecans to the crumble topping.
