Slow Cooker Short Ribs

Tender and flavorful short ribs cooked in a slow cooker for a delicious and easy meal.

  • 4 lbs Beef Short Ribs
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 0.5 cup Red Wine
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Season short ribs with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear short ribs on all sides until browned.
  • Place seared short ribs in the slow cooker.
  • In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour in beef broth and red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme.
  • Pour the sauce over the short ribs in the slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 6 hours, or on high for 3 hours, or until the short ribs are very tender.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or polenta for a complete meal.
