Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla extract until just combined.
Pour batter into an ungreased 8x8 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine hot water and brown sugar. Pour over the batter.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with gooey crumbs.
Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the batter.
