Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
Add the thinly sliced onions to the dry ingredients and toss until evenly coated.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
Fry the onions in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, until golden brown and crispy. This should take about 3-5 minutes per batch.
Remove the fried onions with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Season with additional salt if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
These onions are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a day.
