Tuna Melt Recipe

A classic tuna melt sandwich with creamy tuna salad and melted cheddar cheese.

  • 5 oz Canned Tuna in Water, drained Flaked light tuna is best
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise Use your favorite brand
  • 1 tbsp Celery, finely chopped
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground
  • 4 slices Bread Sourdough or your favorite
  • 4 slices Cheddar Cheese Sharp cheddar recommended
  • 2 tbsp Butter For grilling the sandwiches

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, celery, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Spread tuna salad evenly over two slices of bread. Top with cheddar cheese slices.
  • Top with the remaining slices of bread.
  • Spread butter on the outside of the sandwiches.
  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grill the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Cut in half and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with your favorite chips or a side salad.
