- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk room temperature
For the Buttercream Frosting:

- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoons pink food coloring optional
For Decoration (Optional):
- Fresh raspberries or strawberries
- Sprinkles or edible glitter
- Small sugar roses or flowers
Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan or line with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until smooth and combined.
Step 2: Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared heart-shaped pan.
Bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Step 3: Make the Buttercream Frosting
Beat the softened butter in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add vanilla extract and heavy cream. Beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
Add food coloring (optional) to achieve the desired shade of pink.
Step 4: Frost the Cake
Once the cake has cooled completely, place it on a cake stand or serving plate.
Spread a layer of buttercream frosting over the top and sides using an offset spatula.
Smooth out the frosting for a neat finish or add texture by using a piping bag to create decorative swirls.
Decorate the cake with fresh fruit, sprinkles, or edible glitter for a festive touch.
- Flavored Frosting: For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of almond extract to the frosting.
- More Decoration: You can pipe more intricate decorations using different piping tips for a more elaborate design.
- Cake Variations: This cake can also be made with other cake flavors like chocolate or red velvet for added variety.
