Ingredients
  

For the Vanilla Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk room temperature

For the Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons pink food coloring optional

For Decoration (Optional):

  • Fresh raspberries or strawberries
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter
  • Small sugar roses or flowers

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan or line with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until smooth and combined.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared heart-shaped pan.
  • Bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 3: Make the Buttercream Frosting

  • Beat the softened butter in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Add vanilla extract and heavy cream. Beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  • Add food coloring (optional) to achieve the desired shade of pink.

Step 4: Frost the Cake

  • Once the cake has cooled completely, place it on a cake stand or serving plate.
  • Spread a layer of buttercream frosting over the top and sides using an offset spatula.
  • Smooth out the frosting for a neat finish or add texture by using a piping bag to create decorative swirls.
  • Decorate the cake with fresh fruit, sprinkles, or edible glitter for a festive touch.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!

  • Best served at room temperature.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Flavored Frosting: For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of almond extract to the frosting.
