Stuffed Shells Recipe

A classic and comforting Italian-American dish featuring jumbo pasta shells filled with a creamy ricotta mixture and baked in marinara sauce.

  • 12 oz Jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups Ricotta cheese
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 24 oz Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook jumbo pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
  • In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

  • Spread about 1/2 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  • Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the ricotta mixture. Arrange the stuffed shells in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.

  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells.

  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.

  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with a side salad and garlic bread for a complete meal.
